But I was so happy that I got fired for the first time. Honestly, when you get fired, normally it's not a good feeling and I knew that I could always find another job. The tenure finally came to an end and it's not a job I enjoy going to. Whatever job you're working, make sure that if it doesn't work out, people can't point the finger at you and say it's your fault. Even if it's a bad job, make sure that it never fizzles out because of your doing.

I just told you in the last part of this series how I got my first two jobs working as a counselor in training in Boys and Girls Club and then also working as a caddy at this club called the Milbrook Golf Club. So after working those two jobs that carried me on through high school, my senior year because I did what I had to do and got ahead of the college application process I ended up getting into 13 colleges, ended up coming down to pretty much financial aid. The UConn was the main college that actually offered me a good package, and so part of the financial aid package was a work study so I would be able to work on campus and use that money to help pay for my tuition, my books, etc. Etc. So I ended up finding a job on campus. The job was at if I'm not mistaken, the job was at a dining hall as a dishwasher, and so this was my very first job where I'm actually getting paid. The counselor in training thing was as I said I got a set amount for the summer. I wasn't like I was getting paid weekly per hour. So this is my first actual job where I'm getting paid per hour at the work study, and so I'll clock in again, clock out, and I will usually work morning shifts, which were great and all because I'm a morning person anyways. But I would wake up early morning and I'll have to walk over like 15 minutes just to get there and then I would have to wash the dishes and man washing dishes for other people is so annoying. But, as something you know, I clock in, I put my beets in right at that point in time. I had beets but I couldn't wear the. I had the beets studios and I would wear my headphones because I couldn't wear the beets studios, and I'd just go in play my music, work this three hours, three and a half hour shift and that job helped me out a ton because you could always get free food at the end of your shift, whatever was left over, and there used to be a lot of food left over, and so that food helped me carry on in college, a lot of. There's a joke I used to say like just broke college student. I think everyone has heard. You know the life as a broke college student and it's really tough as a broke college student, and so I had to do what I had to do and help me get by, help me have food to eat, put food on my table, and I used to work at this diner hall and I would get like two to go play to work for food and I would just stuff it with fruits, but whatever they had as leftovers a whole bunch of stuff that was mission tool. And so fast forward a little bit. There was a couple of strikes that I've gotten because I think I called out and couldn't find coverage and stuff like that. So I ended up having two strikes within my first semester and then fast forward a little bit. I went away for a winter break and then I came back my spring semester, sophomore year Now this is spring of 2020, right before the pandemic actually kicked off. So I was still working at the dining hall washing dishes. Right when the semester picked up, I started working at the dining hall again and there's this one day I ended up oversleeping, for whatever reason. I forget why I overslept. I think I had to stay up late and then from there I woke up and I usually had to clock in being about 6, 45, 7 o'clock, right, because we started at 7. And I remember it was like 7.30, almost 8 o'clock and I call in. I'm just now waking up. I call in like, hey, do you guys still need me? And they were like, no, we're good, we figured it out, or whatever. So I'm like, okay, no big issue, right? Mind you, I already had two strikes, but I've forgotten because that was in first semester, so I didn't know if they were gonna carry over it now, and so everything was all fine. I ended up going back to bed, I think I laid, going back to work I think it was at Thursday, and I worked. Nothing happened, like it was perfectly fine. No one said anything to me, no one mentioned anything to me. And then from there the following Monday night into Tuesday morning, so I had a really big essay for my English class that I was writing and it was something where I procrastinated on. So I had a lot to do and not a lot of time. And so, non you, I'm up him just torturing to. And I had a dorm room and I was in the lounge area. For whatever reason, I don't know why I wasn't in my dorm, but I was just in the lounge area with my beats on, I had my laptop and I'm just typing away, typing, typing, typing. 12 o'clock passes, one o'clock passes, almost two o'clock passes. I finally finished my essay for my English class and, honestly, I felt like it was some of my best work. I was locked in the zone. The only issue was I worked Tuesday mornings at seven, so it's two in the morning now, tuesday morning, and I will have work in five hours. Mind you, I still didn't take a shower yet and I was not gonna go to bed without taking a shower. So I checked my email. I finished typing on my essay, right. I checked my email I don't know what made me do it and I remember reading this one email and it was from my job and they pretty much told me like hey, you don't have to worry about coming in again. Pretty much, you're no longer gonna be working at the dining hall. And he pretty much fired me without saying that you're fired. And so I have read that email and it's like the joy of God just filled my heart. I was so happy. I still remember like it was yesterday. I was sitting in the lodge. I seen that I had just started. I got up so quickly and just started dancing. I remember I recorded a video. I think I sent it to my friend and I forget who I sent it to. I think it was either my friend Eson or my friend Rox, and I sent it to one of them, to an halogenist. So either that or I posted it on my Instagram or my Instagram story or Snapchat or something, but I was so happy that I got fired for the first time. Honestly, when you get fired, normally it's not a good feeling, but I knew that I'd written a good essay and I knew that I could always find another job. I probably wouldn't have been able to work at any of the dining halls, but it was like the tenure finally came to an end and it's not a job I enjoy going to Like. I didn't want to wash these dishes, and a lot of times it wasn't like plates, it was like these big pots that they cooked the food in these big pans. It was super annoying, especially when there was mac and cheese or there was salmon. It was annoyingly painful to wash those dishes, and so my biggest takeaway is from getting fired from my first job. One I kept that job for a semester and a half, which was a pretty long time. Two it was my first job actually getting paid per hour, and so if I didn't show up to work, I wasn't going to get paid. And then three you have to be disciplined and show up, even if it's a job you don't like, right? I should have never treated the job as casually as I did Because it was a work setting, because I didn't enjoy it. I should have showed up. Luckily that hasn't come back to me because I left college, so I don't have to worry about a job now on my own, on my own ball. So it can never really come back to me now. But if you're working at a job, getting fired is actually not a good thing to be happy about Because everyone's reputation, especially if it's on your fault, like for me. I got fired. That was on me. That's because I overslept, that's because I didn't have my sleep schedule in check, that's because I didn't set my alarm, I didn't wake up on time, I wasn't disciplined enough to wake up on time and get to work on time, so that was on me. It's different if you're in a different, another situation. But I got fired and it was only my fault and to this day I haven't ever been fired and I haven't fired myself yet and I don't really plan on firing myself anytime soon. So it was a good experience getting fired for that first time. I ended up getting an A on that essay and the one thing I want you guys to take away from this is that your reputation is everything. I mean I was a little too casual with how I went about that job and in the real world you only get one name. Your name is your biggest asset and if you lose that, if your name starts to tarnish, if your name starts to go through the mud, that could genuinely hurt you in the long run, deeper than and bigger than you can realize. Your name is everything. Theos get done just on the. You know, the merit of your name. Or they fizzle apart on the merit of your name or the lack of merit on your name. So make sure that whatever job you're working, make sure that if it doesn't work out, people can't point the finger at you and says that you're a fault, even if it's a bad job, make sure that it never fizzles out because of your doing. That way, you can always look yourself in a mirror and say at least I did my part to the best that I can. And now, not every job is going to work out. Not everything is going to work out, but if you look yourself in a mirror and say that I did the best that I can and I did the part that I was required to, and that's at least a good start. So that's pretty much all for how I got fired. I know you guys want to hear how I made $20,000 an hour, and there's steps to that man. This is a journey. Making money didn't happen in a day. This was a process that got me to where I'm at now, and so in the next episode I'm going to be sharing with you guys how I was able to get a job at K Jewelers and start selling some jewelry and how I ended up leaving that job. So stay tuned, I'll see you in the next one.
